Sorry to answer for you Martin,

But yes Sarah, the King James Version 1611 is also known as the "Authorized Version" referring to the authorization of King James to have the bible translated from the original tongues.

Love in Christ,

Jim

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

What's wrong with the NIV?????????????????????
Satanic Bibles

Almost everyone has sung the song. Perhaps you are familiar with the scripture from which it was taken. Kids love to sing it. What is it?

I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.

In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay
He tells me every care on Him to roll
He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

You may have noticed the phrase "Bright and Morning Star in the second to the last line above. It is taken from the book of Revelation, chapter 22, verse 16 " I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star" Is Jesus the morning star? Then why do we find the following in the NIV in Isaiah 14:12? "How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!" - SHOCKED!? You should be. In the NIV, Lucifer has not been cast out of heaven, JESUS CHRIST HAS! How could that happen? Think for a moment. The word of God is hated by Satan. Romans 10:17 clearly states: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". If Satan can corrupt the word of God, then faith will be poisoned, and more souls will end up in the Lake of fire. Has Satan been in the "Bible corrupting business" long? Well for starters, in the garden of Eden, he spoke to Eve saying "Yea, hath God said . . ." He was attempting to cast doubt in Eve's mind as to the truth of God's word. The Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 2:17 says "For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ". Satan was busy in Paul's time attempting to do away with the word of God. He is just as busy today!

The NIV makes Jesus Christ a sinner!

Let's look at a verse that makes Jesus Christ a sinner. Matthew 5:22 NIV "But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment." The scripture actually reads "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment." Was Jesus ever angry with His brethren? Did He not in anger cast the moneychangers out of His fathers house. Did He have cause? The NIV omits "without a cause". According to it, if Jesus Christ got angry, which He did, He is a sinner just like you and I. That is blasphemy! What are you going to do? Most saints will continue on in self imposed ignorance, as if to say, "don't confuse me with facts, I am comfortable where I am." That will not be the case at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Please give this some honest consideration.

WHY THE KING JAMES BIBLE? A SHORT STUDY ON THE AUTHORITY OF THE KING JAMES VERSION

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalms 12:6,7)

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. (1 Peter 1:25a)

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. (Psalms 138:2)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17)

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:6)

Being born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:23)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:12,13)

Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:6)

If the above scriptures make anything clear, it is that God has given us words which He collectively calls His Word. In describing that Word, He uses some of the following adjectives: (1) pure and seven times purified (2) kept (3) preserved (4) eternal (5) enduring (6) magnified above all his name (7) truth (Cool complete (9) incorruptible (10) living (11) abiding (12) quick (13) powerful (14) sharp (15) piercing (16) discerning (17) searching.

These words are compared to purified silver. They inspire worship. They are the means of sanctification for the believer. They are not to be added to or subtracted from. They engender eternal life, and the heart of man is naked before them. In Hebrews 4:13 the word of God takes on personality. No effort is made in the verse to distinguish between the written word and the incarnate word, the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ Himself, when tempted of the devil, said, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4).

Sanity dictates to the sound mind this infallible axiom. Things that are different cannot be the same. If the King James Bible says in Colossians 1:14, In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: and another version leaves out the words through his blood, two things become possible. Either one is correct and one is not, or neither is correct. They cannot both be correct! If the King James Bible says in Acts 8:37, And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and other versions leave the verse out entirely, both cannot be what God has so strongly told us He has preserved for ever. The above are just two out of hundreds of differences between the King James Bible and the plethora of so-called Bibles carried by unsuspecting saints to church each Sunday.

If you wish to buy a King James Bible, a visit to almost any Christian bookstore will find you on the listening end of some of the following lies: It is archaic, outdated, hard to read. It is based on inferior manuscripts. The translators were good men who didn't have access to the manuscripts and materials that modern scholars have. The King James is difficult to understand. It has contradictions. It is a poor translation. And the list goes on.

What's wrong with the above? They are either blatantly false, or half-truths designed to talk you out of purchasing a King James Bible. It is not your bookstore owner who is at fault, he is only parroting what he has been told. The truth is, the King James has a few archaic words which can be easily understood from the context by anyone with an eighth grade education. The truth is, of all the "Bibles", it is the easiest to read. Most of its words have only one or two syllables. The truth is, it is based on a far larger and superior base of manuscripts than all the new versions. The truth is, it contains no proven contradictions. It has been called the most outstanding written example of the English language ever printed.

It is difficult to hear a radio or television preacher that does not correct the King James Bible several times in his message by saying something like, "A better translation would be" or, "This word in the original means." It is rare when one of the new versions is given the same treatment. Discerning persons would not find it difficult to detect a conspicuous bias against the King James Bible. For more than half a century we have been hearing the King James Bible is nice, but should be relegated to a museum as far as accuracy or usefulness is concerned. A lie repeated often enough will be believed as truth.

mwords, excellent summary, but please in the future do not use boldfaced enlarged type, please reserve that for its intention, not on a complete post.

Please understand I humbly am not in any way trying to take away from you, just trying to maintain site consistency.

Whats wrong with the NIV?

Grizz replies: Everything....

If i have to put this on every {other version} topic on this webiste and the admins don't mind, I'll do it.....

The True word of the Living God is the Original Hebrew and Greek Scrolls..... The King James Translators were the linguistic Scollars of their day..... Each word form the Original Hebrew and Greek Scroll they translated and when 1 got stuck on a word, they ALL came together to work on that One word, they wanted to make Sure that the translation was correct... now there were a few errors found in the Authorized King James Version but found in the year 1617, -- 6 years after the 1611 Authorized KJV was published. So you see, The 1611 Authorized King James Version and the Original Hebrew and Greek Scrolls ARE the True Word of the LIVING GOD.

The NIV, I hate to pop the bubbles, but if its for standing up for God, then just move over......... The NIV has more "chirst" -lower case letters then {CHRIST} Caps. The NIV Preaches a totally different Jesus. Let me explain more..........
But I think I will start a new thread... it has to do with Wescott and Hort along with the NIV Bible.

Keep looking for it..

God bless.

I am using this existing thread without reading any of the prior posts. I came across this article while gathering information that Zondervan was simply in the business of making money and not primarily spreading the Gospel.

A great find 'BrotherTim' that was quite an article. The more that detracts from the KJV, AV the closer I draw to it!!

RE: NIV
This is more an issue of "Big Bible" publishing than it is versions. What is clear is that the Zondervan management sees the $$ with the NIV, and not the KJB, which they still print. Though it likely can never be proven, I believe that the real impetus for the creation of the NIV was market share and profit. I also think that the Nelson people came out with the NKJV shortly thereafter because of the loss of market share. The same could probably be said of the producers of most of the modern versions.

The KJB printers are not immune to this. Cambridge, Oxford, Collins, and others are very likely governed more by money than by ministry.
