Politicly incorrect.. as usual
If one is biblical your rarely politically correct. Why is it the world has come to the conclusion that a child molester or someone who hates folks of the “alternate lifestyle”, is somehow much more wicked or sinful than a thief, murderer or liar. Do not all sinners spend eternity in the same hell separated from God? I believe there is an underlying reason, that the more disgusted we are, the more just we feel. The attitude that I would never do this or that is the same as the Pharisee praying thank you LORD I am not a sinner like him. I know of pastors who will not work with those convicted of these crimes or even witness to them because of the new attitudes. We work with abused children in a third world country. I can tell you first hand the disgust expressed often does as much or more damage than the sin itself. It is a natural bodily function created by God used in a wrong way with the wrong people. Its not the end of the world it is not getting limbs blown off and God makes us very resilient and self healing when treated as other sin. It is wrong no doubt, and there should be a price paid. But the price paid by all in this holier than thou mindset just does not meet Gods requirement of a just balance. I believe it is a way of masking underlying feeling of many, that they are not so different in their minds. And, in reality none of us are. Its only by grace we are not doing the same. With God’s hand removed each and every person is capable of the most vile things… If you think not, you are in a very dangerous position indeed.

Bro Nobody
I don't think we should hate anybody because of their lifestyle. We should hate their lifestyle. In fact over here christians who have been arrested, for preaching hate, for just reading what the scripture says, say " We don't hate them, but we must tell them what the bible says." We should preach the gospel to them, for, as Pauls says : "Such, were some of you." David Job 19:25 But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth, And at last he will stand up upon the earth: |

RE: Politicly incorrect.. as usual
You are correct Dave sorry for my poor wording to that effect. As I wrote this an incident was in my mind that happened to me years ago. I was out on visitation with my pastor; A man in whom I had much confidence. We visited a family on my church bus route and led the teen age girl to the LORD. Then the mother came and listened and trusted Christ as Saviour. The mothers current boyfriend looked much like charles manson(no kidding) and wanted nothing to do with us. As we left, the teen girl in tears asked me to go witness to her father who was in the hospital dying of aids. (He had left her mom for a man years earlier) I said yes to her. As we left and entered into the car the pastor made a statement that rocked me. He said I wont go to witness to one of those. (Less filtered). It took me a while to get over that. By the time I chose to go anyway, the man had died. I lost all respect in this family and never got them back in church… Btw that pastor is no longer a pastor as many others found out some of his closer held beliefs… So it is this context I use the illustration. In reality the point is one of a false balance our society now holds and like the Bible says they even call evil good....
If you murder someone you get life. But if you murder someone because you hate their lifestyle the public wants to give 2 death penalties... If your a child molester folks want to give you the death penalty, but will give you a fare trial if you kill a child. It just seems out of kilter and unbalanced and few touch on this subject in fear of falling prey to it. I do not condone any of it but the zeal that is focused on certain ills is wrong. How can murder be MORE wrong if it is done in hate….it IS hate to murder. This is only done to make ourselves feel more self righteous… Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. |

RE: Politicly incorrect.. as usual
Hate the sin, but love the sinner. Aids and HIV have become so widespread in our state, that there really isn't that much stigma applied to it. It is a disease that is not considered any worse than other diseases mentioned in the Bible, such as Leprosy. Didn't Jesus heal ten lepers at one time, but only one turned around to thank Him?
Instead of not witnessesing to someone, God can use that particular person to demonstrate his love for us - one may never know. The Lord does work in mysterious ways! "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." |
