CT Scans

CT Scans
Brothers and Sisters once again I ask prayer support for me. Tomorrow at 10:00 I am scheduled for another round of CT scans. As many of you know I am highly allergic to the contrast fluid they put in by IV to light up my insides. I do pre-medicate to avoid any reactions but I do appreciate the prayer support.

Please consider also praying for a good report from the scans. The best report as far as I am concerned would be that the tumors are shrinking. However if it comes back and shows the tumors are stable and have not progressed that would be a great blessing also.

In Christ,
George

(Galatians 5:1) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Continuing in prayer for you Brother!

Thank you all for the prayers. So far, so good. The scans went well. No reaction to the contrast fluid at all. Unfortunately my oncologist is out of town so i won't get the results until the 20th, which is next Tuesday.

RE: CT Scans
I got a mixed review this afternoon on the results of my CT scans. The tumors in the abdomen appear to be necrotic. Necrotic and necrosis mean a localized dying of living tissue. In other words the levels of medication I am taking are killing the tumors from the inside out. Yippee!

However the two tumors on my liver have progressed. They are larger than they used to be. Boo! However the really good news is that if the tumors in the abdomen are under control there are two different procedures I could have to get rid of the tumors on the liver.

To that end my oncologist is going to send me for a PET scan to determine exactly what we are dealing with. If you are unfamiliar with PET scans what they do is inject a small quantity of radioactive material into my body. I then have to lay there completely still and quiet for 45 minutes before I go into the machine. It is known that tumors use about 10 times the amount of glucose to live as do normal cells. Because of that anything that is truly a live tumor shows up bright red on the scans. Once I have that done we will determine what the next step is.

All I know for certain is that God has once again been faithful to me as He has during this almost 7 years we have been battling this disease. He gets me through things despite myself.

In Christ,
George
