We certainly made a huge mistake back in the '50s when we did not move through that whole peninsula and eliminate the existence of North Korea. Perhaps it will happen soon but not at our hands. The Japanese are very upset over this whole thing as well as the South Koreans.

Does Japan have the resources to squash North Korea? Would not China come to North Korea aid even if America attacks them. I remember well that China stood against us in Vietnam.

I believe that Japan together with South Korea could handle it with no problem. From what I have been seeing in the news lately both China and Russia are pretty much against what North Korea is doing. If it came to an outright on North Korea I don't know what would really happen. It is interested that our esteemed Secretary of State has been threatening the North. You would think she had learned by now that idle threats mean nothing to the North.

I think China will mass at thier border but not interfere. Japan relys on us for thier defence. They do have a force of Defensive military but Im not sure they could mass an attack without months or even years of preperations. I agree, we should have taken care of this in the 50's If we go in, we need to take care of it now, quickly and decisively.

As has been mentioned, Japan does not have that much of a defense, they rely heavily on us. China has never like us, I really believe if it come down to it they would stand with North Korea, not us. Countries such as China, North Korea, Iran, they do not think rational. As for Russia, there is no love between them and us, never has been, the only thing that holds them at bay is they know our strength. If they thought they could overthrow us, it would be done.

Remember Nikita Khrushchev said, "We will bury you," You best believe that is still in the minds of the Russian leaders.

Russia, China, North Korea, nor Iran have any love for Israel, of course at the moment our leadership might just turn their back on Israel, but that will be our bad, you can't fight against God.

Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

I feel that is the one thing we have had that has helped us more than anything else, if we turn against Him, I feel it will be doom for America.

One thing I have been pondering lately is the situation with North Korea testing quite a few missiles as well as nuclear weapons. I believe the Russians and Chinese may be afraid they will turn their missiles on them. The Russians, dating back to the Soviet era, have long been of leaders they consider unstable. They waited a long time before invading Afghanistan because they wanted to wait until the regime had been replaced. As soon as a new ruler was put in they moved in. Iran has been safe, even with all their oil, because of the rulers. I don't know how the Chinese feel about this but even so I don't thhink they would get involved.

I think you are right. I wouldn't trust Dimitri Mededev as far as I could throw him. Or Vladmir Putin. Just look at the way they have clamped down on religious and political freedom in Russia in recent years, and consolidated their own grip on power. During Yeltsin's time things weren't so bad, but the current leaders seem bent on taking Russia back to the old USSR days.

Another Russian, Lenin, is quoted as saying: "Probe with bayonets. If you encounter mush, proceed. If you encounter steel, withdraw."

I suspect that North Korea is operating along those lines, and so far, they seem to have only encountered "mush" in response to their actions. It will be interesting to see how the Obama administration handles all of this.

He wont, his advisors will. He will stick his head in the sand until he is forced to do something. Wont see much action from a president who does not like his own country.

Thanks brothers in Christ. My hubby and I are following this news. Also, My FIL said that ACORN was started back in the 1960's - and resurfaced after that? I haven't checked for a site - yet. Also, last night we were on a "DEFCON" - Def con 2 Alert." This is the highest alert since the Vietnam War. In other words? A nuclear Holocaust? Russia, China and North Korea were ALL "rocketing in from Pluto" - together. *unreal* I will send brother's George and Jim the site. It was from the US Army and in the Macedonia news last night.

There are 5 levelas of DEFCON.

DEFCON 5
This is the condition used to designate normal peacetime military readiness. An upgrade in military preparedness is typically made by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and announced by the United States Secretary of Defense.

DEFCON 4
This refers to normal, increased intelligence and the heightening of national security measures.

DEFCON 3
This refers to an increase to force readiness above normal. Radio call signs used by American forces change to currently classified call signs. This was reached after 9/11.

DEFCON 2
This refers to a further increase in force readiness just below maximum readiness. The most notable time it was declared was during the Cuban Missile Crisis, although the declaration was limited to Strategic Air Command. It is not certain how many times this level of readiness has been reached.

DEFCON 1
This refers to maximum readiness. It is not certain whether this has ever been used, but it is reserved for imminent or ongoing attack on US military forces or US territory by a foreign military power.
