Souls for Jesus

Souls for Jesus
The Lord has been working me over for the past couple of months over my lack of a burden for souls.
He has renewed my vision and passion for those that are headed for a Christless eternity.

1. If I believe that the Lord may rapture His bride at any moment - which I do, then I know that many that I know will be left to go into eternity without Christ.

2. If I believe that those that do not acept Christ as Savior will spend eternity in hell - which I do, then I should have that burden for those that I know and do not know.

3. If I believe that the Lord answers prayer - which I do, I should spend earnest time in prayer for the souls of men.

The burden that the Lord has placed upon my heart is to pray specifically for the Lord to give me one soul for His glory.

To be an encourgement to me and I hope others, please share accounts of those that you have recently, by the grace of the Lord, been able to lead to Him.

We all need the burden placed upon us to reach out to one.

The value of the lost soul -- what if it were YOU.

In Christ,

Greg

Amen Pastor Greg!

This would be an encouragement thread.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

RE: Souls for Jesus
I wanted to revive this thread again, and put forth a challenge for everyone here on the board.

What if everyone here was to pray that the Lord would burden them with one (1) soul out there for the Lord Jesus Christ. And when the Lord sets that particular person on your heart, begin to every night pray fervently for the salvation of that person.

I mean tear-soaked, blood bathed, fervent effectual prayer. Truly bringing that person before the throne of grace every day.

I believe it would not only see many saved, but start a revival in the hearts of believers!

I challenge you, pray that the Lord will put that one lost soul on your mind, and truly pray!

Love in Christ,

Jim

RE: Souls for Jesus
Many of us, myself included, often feel inadequate or are afraid for one reason or another about soul winning. It is one of my major short comings as ashamed as I am to say it. In fact I sincerely believe there are folks burning in the lake of fire because no one witnessed to them.

I have found a resource that is amazingly helpful in this area that perhaps others of you may want to investigate. It is called the "Pocket Testament League." The main thrust behind the ministry is that it produces booklets that will fit into a shirt pocket that contain the entire Gospel of John. In the front of the booklet there is an area concerning salvation. It is very well written. That is followed by the Gospel of John. You can even choose what design you want on the cover for the Gospels you order.

All of this is entirely free. However being non-profit and a ministry they will accept donations. I usually donate one dollar for each Testament I order. I find this an excellent tool. The League also issues various challenges through email to keep people motivated. As example a while back they issued the challenge to give a Gospel to someone we had never met previously.

Go to this web site and check the ministry out:

They sure do believe in using many different versions of the Bible, and include in each one of them an offer to sign up for our free correspondence course, of which I woudl be scared of being as they use so many different versions of the Bible. Usually those who use all of those versions have very liberal teachings. Anyway, I only use the KJ and leave those others alone.

May God bless,
Jerry

Ah but Brother Jerry you have the ability to choose which Bible you want to receive the materials in. I also use only the King James Bible. However I have not let the fact they publish materials in other "versions" preclude me from having access to a tool that is extremely helpful.

In each one of them they have this, " an offer to sign up for our free correspondence course."

Therefore if I handed it out to someone I might open them up to their teachings, and I already know they use many different versions on the Bible so I do not approve of them.

No, I could not hand out none of their material knowing this is on it, for I cannot approve of their use of MV's of the Bible.

Jerry

RE: Souls for Jesus
This is what concerns me most about the state of many Christians today. We are concerned about our "pet points" and we sharpen our weapons to use against one another (believers) instead of fighting the devil, the author of confusion, the great deceiver for the souls of men.

The original post asked about our concern for the lost.

Jim revived the thread and challenged us to pray with sincerity for the soul that is nearest hell.

Lets take that challenge and move beyond arguing with each other and get down to the battle that matters most.

Please pray for a man that I was made aware of tonight that is lost and in the hospital facing amputation of both feet. I do not know this man but someone has place the burden on me and the Lord has directed me to go visit him.

Lets pray that the Lord will give us at least one soul this year for His glory.

Greg, may God richly bless you as you seek to reach the lost with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have much respect for a man like you.

RE: Souls for Jesus
I personally dont thing Jerry was arguing, but rather making a point based on his convictions.

I hold to his point of view, but each person has to come to the answer in thier own mind of what they are going to do for Christ and what tools to use.

We print our own tracts and use some others that are printed. We also have some John and Romans booklets with our Church info on the back and the plan of salvation in them. We got them free from Bearing Precious seed.

The Lord has stired my soul to go door knocking weekly. Our Church has stumbled in this area, and no one wants to go. I think it is out of frustration. We have been through our town sevral times with very little response.

What folks dont realize is God gives the increase. He just askes us to be faithful.

I note that when we door knock, we have visitors. When we dont do any witnessing, the visitors stop. Almost all of our visitors are NOT from door knocking, so I believe it is God sending them as blessing for faithfulness.

With my leg and back problems I can not walk very far anymore, but I have purposed in my heart to door knock at least one house a week, in addition to witnessing to family and friends.

Thank you for the posts. We all need reminded of the lost souls that we must reach. When we are working for the Lord, sin has no room to abound.

God Bless

My thoughts exactly Brother. I do not ask nor expect anyone to change their convictions based on anything I have to say. I do not believe that participating in the Pocket Testament League is compromising my convictions but obviously others do.

There is a rather simple answer to the question of the correspondence course: don't participate in it. Isn't that simple?

I am well aware these people use other Bible "versions" but let ma ask this, how many of us out there buy Bibles printed by such companies as Zondervan and Nelson as well as others? You must be aware they print "bibles" in other "versions" as well.

RE: Souls for Jesus
I almost blew it today

Out door knocking I almost skipped a house because the Oxygen guy was there. I thought"they are busy, Ill come back another day".

The Holy Ghost spoke and said GO. So I did.

The woman there was named Hazel and is on O2 just getting over Pneumonia. Her Husband is very ill also.

I told he who i was. She said she goes to the episcopal church was has been Baptist most her life.

I asked her if I could pray with her. she said yes. After we prayed, she was in tears and was thanking me over and over.

It is just what she needed. The Lord knew that, and I almost blew it.

THe next time you see a house you dont think you should go to, GO to it.

Im sad I almost missed an opportunity, but am so glad I didnt.

Praise the Lord!

He knows what we need to be doing and He will direct our steps.

Our command is to be faithful as a witness. I say this respectfully, it is His responsibility to win the souls.

Thank you for your words of encouragement to all of us.

I will pray that the Lord will use you to reach out to the one house as the Lord leads.

Greg

RE: Souls for Jesus
Long time no posts...hmm.
One area in modern soul winning I have noticed (with some not all) is using the set aside time for soul winning (ie church ordered), and letting that be a crutch or yeah I did that already this week. Rather, we should have the heart of Christ the mind of Christ to see all men clearly and look for lost souls in all aspects of our lives. We should be a walking testament of Christ, the greatest soul winners I ever met or read about were just that, not just a burden for one but for all they come in contact with. I am afraid many are like the blind man Jesus healed. He said "I see men as trees walking". He saw them because he was healed and had perfect vision... but lacked the understanding of what was before him. Jesus touched him a second time and he said "I see all men clearly"...as should we. Do we go to the bank, store, gas station, Wal-Mart and interact with people as objects and obstacles (trees walking) to deal with, or (clearly) as lost souls about to drown in sin and we’re within the sound of their voice to offer help. It was a point made painfully clear by the LORD to me years ago. Alan, a young man, a driver of a large truck I was repairing. I was a mobile mechanic. For convenience and time, followed Alan home to repair it at his home. I had made attempts to witness to him left tracts in his truck ect but he never had the time. This day I was in a hurry racing against daylight to do a difficult infield job. Alan hung around a bit longer than normal and made small talk while I worked. I could see he was tired looking but I had to get the job done… so I did not give him much attention, at that moment he was a tree walking, an object in my way of finishing a task… He finally went inside his home… and hung himself. The sad part is I have 4 of these stories 4 men I delt closely with all died before I gave them a clear gospel choice. Each one the LORD taught a brutally tough lesson about the things that interfere with the LORD working in my life. I have since given up that kind of work, given up those things and gone full time into ministry.
