Who/What is Babylon today?
Just some thoughts on who/what is Babylon today. Does the Bible mean the literal place? Or is it a economic/ political/ religious entity? Currently the USA holds the authority over the place. And the USA even in today’s mad economics the USA still holds the keys to the worlds economy…The religion that goes forth from the USA is now a strange mixed brew…..Socialism is on the rise worldwide and the world is a changing…into what?
Just food for thought and see what others think…

We hear much about the revived Roman Empire or continued Roman Empire through the Catholic Church…But Babylon finger pointing…

Good question, good question indeed.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

RE: Who/What is Babylon today?
I know this is an old question; however, I am a new member...lol. I will give my opinion on this question. My hubby and I were just discussing this about 2 weeks ago. It is my understanding, that there was an ancient Babylon, and will be a present day Babylon. The first Babylon was brought down to ruins by God. The second Babylon (I believe) is the USA. The reason I say this is b/c there is no direct mention of the US in the Bible. The Bible refers to the US as an eagle, though. I seem to remember Saddam Hussein being fearful of an eagle during The Gulf War. Is this correct? In the Book of Revelation...the US is never mentioned, therefore; I feel she will be in ruins after the Rapture. This, is political Babylon, which has been crumbling before our very eyes. This makes sense to me b/c ancient Babylon and present day Babylon share many of the same characteristics. The same abominations including...worldly pride, lust, greed, sodomy, and an other such wicked fleshly desires appears to me like history is repeating itself.

Revelation 22:5... And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever and ever. "God Gives Light" King James Bible
