RE: A Look at Scofield.
Boyz, Boyz, Boyz...I for one have enjoyed this thread immensely: and the links it has produced, I've bookmarked quite a few now. Following what you've stated so strongly with my Grandfathers 1917 edition S.R.B. with caution now. Yet, I am very pleased with the Pre-Trib views it extols, from AV text as well as its footnotes and excellent reference-chains!!
I will add [1st Thessalonians 4:13-17], gives us all the glorious hope we share in Christ saving grace and shed-Blood!..
..vs.18 "Where comfort one another with these words"

Chuckie Trout thank you for the encouragement of 1st Thess 4:13-17.

You do realize there is no room for a secret rapture in these verses?

v16 For the Lord himself shall decend from heaven,WITH A SHOUT,with THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL,AND WITH THE TRUMP OF GOD:and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

v17 says we which are alive i.e.when Christ returns WITH A SHOUT AND THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL the first resurrection and our gathering to Christ .

Yes that will be a glorious noisy, audible, visible day of Christ return, sorry it wont be very secret rapture.

God bless.

Dear reader, since murderers are unsaved and John Calvin was a murderer, then Calvin was unsaved! Moreover, since the unsaved are darkened in their spiritual understanding !Eph. 4:18! and Calvin was unsaved based on Scripture, then Calvin was darkened in his spiritual understanding.

RE: A Look at Scofield.
Now, James - you are finally getting down to brass tacks! Sorry, my friend, but the New Testament DOES separate - as Paul said, into 3 categories - 1 Corinthians 10:32 - the Jews (national Israel), the Gentiles, and the church of God. BIG difference. Study your Bible, and get away from this anti-biblical bent you're on, just because Darby and Scofield messed up a few things. If you personally want to go thru the Great Tribulation, ask The Lord, and maybe He'll let you. Paul said in 1 Cor 15:51, that the blessed hope was a MYSTERY. You're following the example of the British Israelites and other "identity" misconceptions. I won't belabor the scriptural mandate for the rapture of the church (Revelation 10:7), but you and Davo should get Dr Bob Shelton's book entitled "God's Prophetic Blueprint," or Dave Walker's book entitled, "The Bible Believer's Guide to Dispensationalism." Both of these men have done a much better job at expounding this scriptural precept than several previous attempts. Good reading!

"Always correct the Bible critics with the King James' text and never worry about doing it. Do it cheerfully, prayerfully, and with thanksgiving, giving the glory to God and being assured that at the Judgment Seat of Christ, you won't have anything to worry about." Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

RE: A Look at Scofield.
Brother Miller, I noticed in your last long post that a lot if not all of the Bible verses quoted were not from the king James Bible. Please note that according to our Statement of Faith this is a King James Bible site. Please do not use quotes from Bibles other thatn the King James Bible unless you use those quotes to compare tham against the king James Bible.

RE: A Look at Scofield.
Brothers, I have discussed this with Brother Jim and I am going to put this thread to bed. It has deteriorated to the point where it is becoming too personal for my liking. We things like, "I find your post offensive, you do err not knowing the scriptures, don't call me a Calvinist (or something similar), and so on.

That is not what this board is about. This has sunk into an argument that I find despicable. We have two completely opposite opinions trying to convince each other they are correct. Darn little of what is being said is coming out of the Bible. There have been tremendous long posts made quoting the words of men. Quite frankly, personally, I don't really care what men say, tell me what does Almighty God have to say?

Present scripture and explain it. Then we can have a civil discussion about it.

(1Co 14:26) How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

The first part of this verse has certainly been acted out here but the last sentence in which we are told to let all things be done unto edifying has not been followed at all. It is really sad to witness.

Good night Cyrus I. Scofield. Please do not try to receive this topic under a different name in a different forum.

George
