New from Virginia
Brethren,

Allow me to tell a little bit about myself. I am from the southwestern section of Virginia. I have served as Pastor of a small congregation for over eight years. I do a lot of traveling among sister churches within the NE Tennessee, Northern NC, NE Kentucky Virginia areas, with occassional trips further out of state. My church membership is with the Primitive Baptist (I am not associated with the Universalist). I have a website, write a periodical and am an associate editor of the Advocate and Messenger, the oldest Primitive Baptist publication still in existence. I strongly support online discussion and would be considered a very strict, orthodox, fundamental HARD SHELL Baptist.

I look forward to discussing various topics with each of you as well as fellowshipping on this forum.

Keep on Keepin' On!

1) I pray that you have read, and agree with the Statement of Faith, you can find it here:

2) I pray that your "HARD SHELL" does not keep you from compassion, but that you mean it keeps you from compromise. Either way, it always comes out in someones attitude. I was a hard-core "hard shell" IFB once, then the Lord really convicted my heart about my attitude. I then realized I could have compassion on unbelievers and believers alike without compromising.

Love in Christ,

Jim

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Brother Moore,
Could you tell us about your salvation experience?

Brothers,
Correct me if I am wrong, but a "hard shell" primitive Baptist is one that adheres to the "T.U.L.I.P." philosophy of John Calvin as put forth in the doctrines of what is referred to as Calvinism.
In Christ, Bro. Chuck

Ezekiel 33:7 "So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me."

Bro Chuck Primitive Baptist believe you are either born saved or lost.I receive a magazine called the Trumpet of Truth put out by Primitive Baptist. Not to pick on this magazine but it should be called the Trumpet of Heresy.

God bless.

Brother Miller.

Dear reader, since murderers are unsaved and John Calvin was a murderer, then Calvin was unsaved! Moreover, since the unsaved are darkened in their spiritual understanding !Eph. 4:18! and Calvin was unsaved based on Scripture, then Calvin was darkened in his spiritual understanding.

RE: New from Virginia
Elder Moore, I am pleased to have you with us. I knew a little about the primitive Baptists previously. I also read the comments that were posted as answers to questions about their faith. The only difficulty I have is the idea that only a certain few are to be saved. I do not believe that. I do know there are a number of denominations who do. I can see where they can get that from the Bible but I also know there are a lot of verses in the Bible which contradict that idea. As we know the Bible cannot contradict itself.

However I have no desire to get into any kind of discussion about your beliefs. I pray you will be a part of the boards and not allow the Calvinism issue to pop into the mix.

In Christ,
George

(Galatians 5:1) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
