Today I sat down and just read the whole book of Proverbs. This book is a blessing to me and I look at it as a book every Christian should live his/her life by. Some important things brought up in this book are to work hard for your money, give to the needy, search for knowledge, rebuke the ignorant, but stay away from their ways, find a good Christian wife and husband, spank your children, fear God and so many more important things.
I'm going to comment on a couple of verses that I found very interesting.
Proverbs 10:26 "As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him."
You all probably knew this, but I never really thought about it. Vinegar is bad for your teeth because it removes the calcium from your teeth.
Proverbs 2
16 "To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life."
This verse would be good for guys my age to read. When you decide to find a wife notice how she is with her parents. Does she respect them? Does she obey them? Or does she rebel and disobey her parents? Well, if she goes against her parents, she'll most likely go against her future husband. In conclusion, STAY AWAY FROM THEM DEVIL WOMEN! (T)
Proverbs 15:3 "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."
Here's a verse for you people that hide your sin from people. You might hide your sin from people, but God sees every bad thing you do. Repent!
Proverbs 17:13 "Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house."
Here is a good verse for those so called liberal Christians that think it is alright to let faggots marry. We should never reward evil, no matter what. If it was up to me I would set homosexuality as a crime. (grn)
Proverbs 24:17 "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:"
You ever get so mad at someone that you wish God would just punish them and pour His wrath on them? Yeah, probably not the best thought you should have lol. It's hard, but we just need to forgive our enemies and let God do what He does. Never rejoice when someone is hurting, no matter what they did to you. Pray and do good to them.
Proverbs 31:6 "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more."
To me this verse proves that Christians should not drink alcohol. As Christians should we be ready to perish? No, we should be living for God with a good head on our shoulders. Should we have heavy hearts? No, we should be rejoicing over our Salvation and praising God daily. Should we be in sorrow over poverty or should be looking for work to get rid of poverty? To forget about this earthly misery, just think about the Cross! This verse simply is not talking about a Born Again Christian.
Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
Just read that whole chapter. It describes the perfect woman. Those verses are beautiful.
I had one question about this book and it deals with a certain verse.
Proverbs 25:12 "As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear."
Who wore earrings back then? I thought earrings were a pagan thing.
Anyways, thanks for reading and I pray these comments might bless, help and encourage you to read your King James Bible. It has many riches in it, just waiting to be found.
Love in Christ and God Bless
