The Weather

Would ya'll kindly consider praying for some relief from the weather we have been having here lately? In the last six hours the official high has been 92 but in the last 24 hours it has been 98. It is quite stifling. In the past few days every community in this region has experienced record-breaking highs.

It is not good for the yards and gardens to say nothing of the agriculture industry. The Santa Maria valley produces about 80 per cent of California's strawberries and broccoli as well as many other crops. If the heat continues the broccoli and cauliflower as well as other cruciferous crops will start to go to bloom and then they are not worth harvesting. The strawberries will also go bad quickly in this weather.

And then there is the people aspect of it all. Over the past few days people with respiratory problems, the elderly and the inform have been warned to stay inside and use air conditioning if possible.

We know the Lord has control over the weather from what we read in the Bible so please petition Him to give us some relief.

In Christ,
George

RE: The Weather

Hot weather isn't nice. After an unusually mild December, we had a run of very hot days in late January/early February, and on one particular day the temperature rose to nearly 46 C (about 115 F) in Adelaide. It was a degree or two cooler over where we live. The heat was stifling out in the sun, but in the shade of the workshop it wasn't too bad. We set up a big fan, but all that really did was blow the hot air everywhere! The best thing to do is drink plenty of water, keep in the shade, and just do things slowly and avoid getting exhausted. The hot weather certainly took its toll on people's gardens. I have a small cherry tree and most of the leaves went brown and died. It didn't seem to bother the lavender or the rosemary, though; they seem to be able to survive just about anything!

It's lovely weather at the moment, however; it's been in the mid 20s and very sunny and nice weather for working outside. And for riding the pushbike! Winters are very pleasant here and it almost never gets below freezing, except on some very cold nights.

Try this drink; it's good in hot weather:

Put a teabag in a tall glass and put about half an inch of hot water in the bottom. Let the teabag sit for a while until the water becomes a concentrated tea brew. Take the teabag out and fill up the glass with cold lemonade (I use Schweppes; I don't know what you have over there...Sprite or something?).
And there you have it: iced tea! (sort of).

Anyhow, George, I will keep you all in prayer about the weather.
(Sorry for getting off the prayer topic!)

Regards, Daniel

RE: The Weather

I certainly will, Brother George. Interesting post, btw.

We, of course, in OH have the weirdest weather. Lately, it goes from rain (I thought it was sleet, yesterday) to heat, to cold... and all over the map, basically.

That is OH, weather for you.

Yes, that is right. Amen.

God bless you,

Molly

RE: The Weather

i posted this request to a number of people. Thank you for the prayers, they obviously worked. Today is an absolutely beautiful day. We started out with our normal early morning fog and low clouds and then when the sun came out it was really nice. It is about 75 right now which is perfect in my opinion. I was actually able to go outside and do some things in the yard today.

In Christ,
George
