Priests who "repress" homosexuality in themselves?

Here is an interesting note:

If this gets passed, will it be in the catechism?

Jim,

If you are going to attack the Church, please pick a topic that makes more sense. Of course it good for the Church to bar openly gay men from the priesthood. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord.

If a person has overcome their homosexuality that is something entirely different. It is just evidence that all is possible through Christ.

What the problem is, is the fact that they see no problem with incorporating "in the closet" gay men into the cloth. Why do you think are so many?

First, it would not go in the Catechism, it would likely go in Canon Law. Second, the Church has always taught that homosexual tendencies are not a sin but homosexual actions are. Openly gay priests are not an option and haven't been since 1961 by writ. It is called 'disordered' but doesn't necessarily prevent a person from being a faithful servant of God, when the person receives the grace of chastity from God. Should we also prohibit alcoholics from being priests since they must be near the occasion of sin every day via the wine? What is required here is what was missing in the 60's and 70's--orthodoxy and honesty on behalf of the seminarians and the bishops. The Judases of Christ's Church have forgotten that priests are servants, not predators. But Benedict has gone further than just openly gay priests. He has included those who show tendencies and those who are sympathetic to the gay cause. But regulations mean nothing without the US Bishops implementing it, which is 50-50 in my opinion.

All homosexual Catholic Priests should be kicked out of the Priesthood and all homosexual Nuns should be kicked out of the Convents and no homosexual man should be allowed to study for the Priesthood and no homosexual woman should be allowed to become a Nun. In fact no man or woman should become a Priest or Nun until Priests and Nuns are allowed to be married. Smile
