Prayer for family

We are praying for the family of Mark Weatherall who was beaten up in January and as a result, died last week. Mark was the father of two of our Sunday School children.

Please remember his wife and family.

Brother David, you mentioned that he was the father of two of your Sunday School children but no mention as to whether he was a Christian man. How about the wife/mother? Is she saved? I will of course pray for the family but if y ou can let me know those answers it will help me to pray more effectively.

In Christ,
George

Brother George

As far as we know, the family are not christians and do not attend our church.

Most of our Sunday School children are from families that do not attend.

We are a small church, of about 30 members, in Whitstable, and we also run a holiday for the Sunday School children each year in Winchelsea on the Romney Marsh. Last year we we unable to have the holiday due to lack of children who wished to attend. (13 is an economic number, but the church will subsidise it if there are 10 or more children.) This year we have enough children and the church also subsidises any family who cannot meet the full cost.

One of our Sunday School mums was baptised and became a member last year, although her husband is not a believer, in fact when he attended a service their children were surprised that dad had attended church.

Please pray for our Sunday School, for the children who hear the Word, and the parents who bring them and the discussions we can have with them, but most of all those who teach the children.

We also run an old folks lunch on Tuesdays, whicch we call the Bethany Lunches, during school term time. We get from 35 - 40 who attend for lunch. It is officially for over 60s, but most are over 80. Apart from the helpers, only about half a dozen or so are church members or attenders. They get a short evangelistic message before lunch. We were pleased that a student at Kent university, who is an associate member gave the message this week. (Our church constitution does not allow any but members to help in Sunday School or other activities, so we have associate membership for students who are studying in the area and are members of other churches.)

Please pray for the old folk who attend and also for the speakers who give their time freely and travel up to 30 miles to deliver a short talk and alost always decline expenses.

That is indeed a sad situation which requires a lot of prayer. It sounds to me as if the children you refer to as Sunday School children are a lot like the ones we refer to as "bus children." These also come from varied backgrounds and the parents do not attend unless there is something special going on.

I really like the concept of your seniors lunch. That is so needed and is an excellent way to evangelize the older. Many say that there is statistically not much chance the older will be saved so late in life. I have seen that theory dispelled a lot of times including with me. I was saved at 55.

God bless you in your efforts brother. I shall be praying for your requests.

In Christ,
George

That is exactly the case. If we have an easter service, or baptism or harvest or carol service, we get the church full.

Last Christmas we delivered 2,000 leaflets in the area. We had a number attend our carol service after receiving the leaflets. Two walke out about halfway through the sermon, one of them saying loudly "I can't take any more of that." That was the teaching that Jesus did not just come as a baby, but died on the cross and rose again for our salvation.

RE: Prayer for family

I spelled his name incorrectly earlier. It is Mark Witherall. 3 young thugs have been convicted of his murder.
