Praise The Lord
Hi,
I was raised in a Southern Baptist home and made 3 professions of faith, before I was finally saved in December 1995 in Southern California! The Lord has been soooo good to me and so patient and merciful. I am married with two children and am on the mission field in the Gobi Desert of outer Mongolia. It is so refreshing to be a part of this forum. I went into the Baptist Board forum (after seeing it advertised on the Baptist1000 website) and was very disappointed. The majority of the items on it kick the KJV and promote multiple (per)versions.
Thanks for having this place available!
God Bless you all!

Brother, I am interested in more about your comment concerning your 3 professions of faith, if you wouldn't mind talking about it. I work with children in my ministry, and have serious concerns about being able to discern between true conversion and just an emotional response to the teaching of the Bible. I experienced this with one of my 4 children who went forward at a young age during an evangelistic meeting when one of her friends went forward. The one who counseled her was not aware of the circumstances under which she came, and told her simply that she was "saved", without any follow-up. It took us many years to help her to understand what she needed to do as an individual before God.

Professions
Hi Bro Tim,
Good to hear from you! On the professions - when I was 13, I was under conviction about spending eternity in hell, so out of a "follow this presciption" type of understanding, I made a profession. No one showed me any verses in a Bible or helped me understand that a sinner needs a Saviour. Later, at age 22, I had heard some evangelistic preaching and wasn't sure about my salvation, so I again, made a "bargain with God" type of profession. Finally, after some severe family turmoil, I was standing in a church and a person walked between me and the Pastor, headed to another building. The Pastor pointed to the new believer that walked between us, and said, "Do you think that they have something that you don't have?" (Meaning real salvation.). That afternoon, the Holy Spirit kept after me, and that evening I went to the Pastor and told him that I wanted to settle my salvation. He took the Bible and led me to Christ.
A young child can get saved, depending on why they want to receive Christ. If they fully understand that they're a sinner (with the penalty being eternity in the lake of fire), and that Jesus is the ONLY payment for their sin, it shouldn't be a problem. Peer pressure has a lot to do with many young folks coming forward though, so deal with them gently but firmly. Make sure the verses are clearly explained and ask questions. It may take several sessions before they get to the trusting point, but The Lord knows their little hearts!
Keep it in prayer and stay with it. Hope this helps! Lord Bless.

Dear Brother,
Thanks for the good response.
Our church is seeking a new mission work to support. Could you communicate with me some details about your work in Mongolia? Your entries to this forum have already assured me of the first requirement that we have: Full confidence in and support of the preserved Word of God, commonly called the KJV.
We are a small ministry, but we believe in helping others who are in places that we will never reach to do the work that our Father has called us all to do.
May God richly bless you!

Mongol ministry
Hi Bro Tim,
Thanks so much for your response. I have been in-country since August 2003. The first year was devoted to language study and I also met my wife at language school. She's Mongolian and was won to Christ by some Korean missionaries in 2001. We are serving in the Gobi Desert and have established a small Baptist church in the village of Chuir. I am in country as an English teacher (since there are no missionary visas), but the government is fully aware that I am a Bible-believing missionary establishing churches. We acquired a building last year and are holding services on Sunday and Wednesday evening. We also pay for a spot on the local FM transmitter and many of the herders have come as a result of it. I have my Mongolian residency (green card), and am on staff at the local school. I am sent out of my church, Lighthouse Baptist Church of Lemon Grove, California (Pastor Doug Fisher) and am not involved with a board for scriptural reasons. Our missions philosophy is a little different than most. Where as some spend 3 years on the field & 1 year in the States on furlough, our church believes that if God has called a missionary to a field, then he should spend his time there, rather than in the States. A Pastor could not be away from his church in the States for a year, and we believe the same for a missionary. We will spend 5 to 7 years on the field, and then take a 90-day trip to the States to report to a few supporters. I can't be out of the country more than 4 months (by Mongolian immigration rules) or I'll forfeit my green card.
I hope this answers some of your questions; if you'll send me your e-mail address, I'll include you on our electronic mailing list for our prayer letter. Our church's address is http://www.lighthousebaptist.com, and you can view our statement of faith as well as speaking with any of the church staff about specific questions regarding our ministry. I only spent about 8 months on deputation (got tired of all the "cliques" and "campish" games) and therefore, am over here vastly undersupported. Anything The Lord would lead you to do would be a great blessing to us. We just had our second child this past Christmas. Prayers go a long way, brother. Let me know if there's anything else you need.
God Bless

My address is:
brothertim@eastsidebaptisteagles.org
I have read your home church's statement of faith, and it matches ours in the crucial issues, particularly the preservation of Scripture. I am going to bring your ministry before our church for support. I need for you to give me some information. First, we will need your testimony. Second, we will need to know where to send your support. (I assume that would be your home church). Last, I would like your e-mail address, so that we can communicate privately.
We will begin praying for you immediately that God would prosper your ministry and your family.
