Considering the age-old adage that "the sole purpose of a politician is to get re-elected," I've come to a solid conclusion about the upcoming presidential election: Fred Thompson for president and Tom Tancredo for vice-president. From the current info available, both are solid, Pro-America, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-life, reduction of the size of the federal government, and many other good qualities. What say ye?

My brother we think very alike, However, I must admit, I was thinking exact opposite, I will probably vote for Tancredo before Fred Thompson even though he is from my home state of Tennessee.
My political views on sociology and economy more closely resembles that of Tancredo, although Thompsons is not far off.
I am a member of the Constitution party, but have not had any indication of any runner. I think Chuck Baldwin is the man, but am not sure.
I just have that peace about Tancredo. I really like him.
Jim,
Thanks for replying. Glad that you, like me, do not belong to one of the two disasters, called "political parties" known as the Dems & Repubs. I am a registered independent, though I really like more of the Libertarian principles (minus the legalization of certain controlled substances). Thompson came right out and stated his stance without wavering, as does Tancredo. Either way, as a team they would get the job done.
On another note, finished the "God's Prophetic Blueprint", by Bob Shelton. If he's around Greenville, I'd sure like to drop in for a visit sometime. The book is good and the charts are accurate.
Thanks again.

Sorry Jim, just saw your reply (must have been posted right around the time of the software upgrade). I'll be sure and drop you a line when we arrive in town. Looks like we might get a chance for our 1st furlough around June '08, and will try to be in SC about September. I'll let ya know.
However, on this thread, since Tancredo has dropped out of the race, I, too have looked over the campaign, promises, stands, etc and have come to two conclusions: (1) I want to thank you for getting me into researching the Constitution Party. I very much like their stand, and will re-register as a Constitutionalist when we do return to the States. You are 100% correct - it is the only one that has a full-blown Christian testimony on their website! I would recommend everyone re-evaluate your political persuasions and take a look at the Constitution Party. After being a registered Republican for over 15 years, I was shocked when I saw Republican candidates saying abortion was OK, and voting for amnesty for illegal aliens, among other godless practices. (Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant", is like calling a drug dealer, an unlicensed pharmacist!) Although, I voted for Reagan, I have been a registered independent since 1980. Someone once said that there's not an ounce of difference between the Dems and Republicans - one party just wants more government controls in place a little faster than the other one!
(2) I have looked over the status, stand, and testimony of the candidates, and have decided that the only logical vote, as a Christian, is for Dr Ron Paul. I liked Thompson and Huckabee until I researched their background and position on many of the issues. But, even though he's against much of what Washington is doing, Thompson has no real plan to change the current political course of the beltway bandits, and has kissed up to the CFR/Trilaterals, as has Huckabee. Mike is too much of a flip-flopper for me. When any of the Congressmen/Senators have been asked if there is one person who has never changed his stand on any issue for political expediency, they all say Ron Paul. Go to his website, http://www.ronpaul 2008, and you'll see his testimony as a believer, as well as his stand on the issues. Don't get caught up in the old "legalize drugs" mantra - his issue is that the States, not the federal government, should determine laws. If it is not expressly authorized in the Constitution, he has voted against it everytime. He also is against abortion and has stated that he will secure our borders, maintain our uniquely American sovereignty, eliminate the Depts of Energy, Education, and IRS (among others), and get us back on a constitutional footing, while appointing "non-activist" judges. This means we will get rid of the unFederal Reserve Board, and return to a sound monetary policy, as well. Remember when Perot ran for President on the 3rd party ticket? The press, Republicans, Democrats, the news mafia, the political pundits, and the boys on the beltway PANICKED! They knew that, if Perot was elected, that there was going to be a new sheriff in town, and business as usual was over. Dr Paul is having the same effect, this time around. The current "powers-that-be", and many in the MSM (main-stream-media) know that if he's elected, they're going to be looking for work! That's why the major news outlets don't even mention him - they're scared to death! If you look back over the past 100 years (Federal Reserve Act -1913), we have voted for the lesser of two evils everytime. Every candidate, either Republican or Democrat, has kissed up to the CFR/Trilaterals, and maintained the same old status quo. (That's right, Huckabee spoke for them last month). The deficit is still going thru the roof, we've killed over 46 million of our citizens LEGALLY, the sodomites and anti-God crowd (read ACLU) are taking over, and we're still electing the same old career politicians that promise to fix the system. Let's wake up, join together and get this thing turned around, before it's too late. This might be our last opportunity to take America back. Pray!

`(1) protects the rights of human persons between conception and birth; or

Here is the text of a bill introduced by Ron Paul. Its the Sanctity of life act of 2005. This bill would have reversed Roe v. Wade. This bill only had five total sponsors and was introduced during Republican control of both House and Senate and obviously the Presidency. My question is where were all the so called Pro Life Republicans when this bill was introduced? My other question is why do Christians keep falling for the same jive election after election? Just saying your pro life means nothing, Ron Paul has proved it with legislation he has introduced. In doing so he has showed the rest to be hypocrites and liars.
I guess there are only five people in congress that are serious about overturning Roe v. Wade.
Ron Paul has re-introduced this same bill in 2007.
I am also a member of the Constitution Party . Lets pray that we can get some people elected this year.
AMEN, Ray!
Dr Paul is a Christian and is probably the last chance we have to turn this thing around. I can't understand how Christians keep listening to these career politicians, time after time (and absolutely nothing changes), and then after the election, these same Christians can't figure out why things are still "going down the tubes" like a bullet! ALL, and I mean A-L-L, of the others are CFR/Trilateral toads! They will maintain the status quo - watch 'em - read their statements on the issues.
I'll guarantee you this: if Dr Paul becomes President Paul, we will definitely see the federal government downsized and returned to their constitutional mandates. Our country needs this "shot in the arm."
However, if Christians follow the usual pattern of "voting for the lesser of two evils" (As Jesse Helms personally told me one time - isn't that STILL evil?), and elect one of the other media love-bug candidates, cherished by the powers that be and the boys on the beltway, NOTHING will change. The federal reserve will still control our nation, the sodomites and ACLU will continue to dictate policy to our congress and courts, and killing our chlldren LEGALLY, will still be in vogue. Vote for anyone else, besides Dr Paul, at your peril. 'Nuff said!

someone just published Ron Paul's book Abortion and Liberty with his permission. Here is the book in PDF format. I have only read the introduction and the first few pages so far but it should be an interesting read.
Ron Paul, of course believes that life begins at conception.
For sombody who does not understand the US political system, please can you tell me what difference it makes if you are registered "Independant" or one of the main parties, or minor parties?
Is it compulsory to be registered?
David
Job 19:25 But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth, And at last he will stand up upon the earth:
In some states you must be registered either Republican or Democrat in order to vote in their Primary election. The primary is held to determine what candidate each party will run in the general election. Basically they vote from a pool of multiple candidates in the primary to narrow it down to who the "one" will be for the general election against their political opponents.
But some states don't require you to register with a Party at all. You just request the ballot for the Party of your choice on primary day. Thats whats know as an open primary.
In the general election you can vote for whoever you want with out worrying about what your affiliation to party is. The Party affiliation is only used for the primary.
Great Ray!
Brother, let's pray that Dr Paul becomes President Paul. I fear that he is our last, best hope to turn things around before the ACLU (Anti-Christian Litigation Union), sodomites, baby-killers, Hollyweird, and the like gets the upperhand.

Hi Guys,
Just got this from Pastor Dixon, thought you'd be interested:
18 Reasons Why I'm Voting for Ron Paul
By Dr Greg Dixon
He is a Statesman, and not just a politician. He is honest. He believes that life begins at conception. He is a Constitutionalist.
He was the only one in Congress to speak up for the Indianapolis Baptist Temple when we were attacked by the IRS. He wants
to eliminate the Federal Reserve and return to an honest monetary system. He wants to eliminate the IRS. He wants to reduce
government spending and balance the federal budget. He opposes the Iraq War. He opposes President Bush's scheme to merge
the United States into a North American Union (NAU) with Mexico and Canada. He will fight the Bush administration efforts
to make illegal aliens who have returned to Mexico eligible for U.S. Social Security benefits and oppose amnesty. He opposes
the United Nations Law of the Sea Treaty (UNLOST). He is a medical doctor and opposes socialized medicine. He is not a member
of the Council on Foreign Relations or the Trilateral Commission. He is a proven money raiser at over $20 Million. He has
a clear testimony as a born again believer and has lived a life of Christian service to exemplify his faith. He doesn't insult us by
using his religious faith to pander for votes. Ron Paul would be the first to tell you that he is not some miracle worker and that
he can only do so much even if elected, and we all know that it will be a miracle if some one with his convictions would win in
the present political climate. But folks, this may be the only chance in our life time for a candidate like this, so let's give it all
we've got. We owe it to our families, neighbors, friends, churches, and nation. Go Ron Paul!

I too am most likely voting for Ron Paul. The only thing I do not agree with about Ron Paul is his desire to eliminate Foreign Aid to Israel. Yes, I know he is taking about eliminating Foreign aid to all countries, which most likely will help Israel more than our giving them aid, but there is a better alternative. Eliminate all foreign aid to all countries except Israel.
Mike Huckabee will be identical to George W. Bush, bloating the National Deficit, and creating a much bigger Federal Government. I think he and Fred Thompson would be about the same.
Rudy Giuliani and John McCain would just flow with the tide of Congress, HoR, and whatever special interest groups stroke their feathers.
And Mitt Romney just plain scares me. You know? You can have "good" intentions, and "good" morals. But I CANNOT ignore the fact, like Bob Jones III has, that he is a Mormon. Mormonism is just plain WRONG, period. For that alone, I cannot vote for him, no matter what his "morals" are.
For that, SHAME on Bob Jones III and his Universities' stance.
Mongol, I meant to tell you that Dr. Bob Shelton is preaching a 4-day prophecy conference at our church starting this Sunday the 6th-9th. I will try to get you audio from it. I know it won't totally be prophecy for the 4 full days, but I will get you what he does preach on it.

Amen! Thanks Jim, I really appreciate that, Brother. If you get the whole conference on CD/DVD/MP3, I'll get you my mailing address. Downloading, especially here in central Asia where things are censored, can be frustrating. We're looking into our 1st furlough in June, so let us know your address, and we'll drop by for a visit. We're planning to visit my parents in Union, during that time, and report to a few churches in that area. MUCH thanks for casting your vote for Bro Paul. When he's elected, he's gonna really shake up the "powers-that-be" in Washington. I support Israel, and he does too, it's just that he's following the constitutional mandate, to allow the States/people determine who/what we support. You know, the "taxation w/representation" rule. I am especially excited about his determination to eliminate the IRS, Depts of Education and Energy; plus, he's pro 2nd Amendment, pro-life, pro-family (read "anti-sodomite"), and the best is that he's a saved man! ALL of the others (Dem or Repub) are a bunch of insider CFR/Trilaterals, who will definitely maintain the "status quo". Praise The Lord for someone that will stand up for what's right and be counted!

Alright! Now you guys are starting to convince me to become a "Paulista" (or Paulistine) I have been refusing to back anyone publicly up to this point. Personally, I like a lot of what Allen Keyes says, but, of course he has my same last name, so there.
If anyone has a source where I can read Ron's personal testimony, I very likely will be swayed. Nothing I found on his site answers that question. It is one thing not to use your faith as a vote-getter, but it is also a problem (to me) to make it so hidden that it is not generally known.
In the Service of the KING,
Brother Tim Keyes (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When I fully rely upon God, I find that He is fully reliable.
