GreekTim, You are 100% right, that is a misapplication on my part. And since the Greek is that application, then the Old English most likely means that also. Thank for pointing that out:
manner of life, conduct, behaviour, deportment
Romans 7:24
O wretched man that I am!...

RE: Is the Church of Christ "Cambellites" a cult?
OK, guys, I think we may have "driven over the cliff" on this one. My understanding of "dingleberry" (from my Dad, many years ago) was the small, furry, cotton-looking, ornaments that many folks hung from their rear-view mirrors in their cars. Also, there is an actual fruit, similar to a huckleberry (yankees call 'em blueberries) that there are recipes for baking online. Additionally, keep these two things in mind: 1-Peter is British, and there are many similar words used in America, that have a different meaning in the UK. Example: boot - Americans put these on their feet, the Brits have these on their cars; again, bonnet - American women wore these on their heads, the Brits use this to describe the "hood" of the car. 2-the slang definitions (I took Bro Tim's lead and went to Ask.com) are all from an American Heritage dictionary, not British; however, at the same location, "dingleberry" is also defined as an incompetent or foolish person. I was not aware of that vulgar slang until I searched for it, nor do I think Peter was being vulgarly derogatory. I SURELY was not using that reference, and I don't think a Brit was either. If I am wrong, Peter, please correct my inference.
Lighten up, guys!

Well I think Mongol Servant made a good point. The word has different implications depending on the culture, time period, and even location one is coming from. Only being 24 yrs old growing up in Charlotte, NC; "dingleberry" was only a slang term that had nothing to do with what you referred to, M S. My only understanding of it was... well lets just call it potty humor. So whether he meant it differently, I still think word choice needs to be chosen carefully. At least an explanation of the misunderstanding would be helpful. Am I way off on this?
