RE: How many King James Bible churches left in your area?
Hey, Jim (NC), hadn't heard from you for a little while.
A few years ago, our Sunday evening service was switched to an afternoon Bible Study from 4:30 to 5:30 to accommodate some folks, so my wife and I began getting acquainted with other local churches by attending their evening services. Sadly we visited far too many Baptist churches where the text was relative. Many still used the KJB as a primary text, but none were very strong. There was one church that we never went (no evening service), but I met the pastor and he made Peter Ruckman sound polite. Finally, we began to travel about 30 minutes to a little "country" church where the pastor had been one of my father's students back in the early 70's. He is without hesitation a KJBO. Now, we go there regularly Sunday evening and Wednesday evening.
I would realistically say that out of 200+ "evangelical" churches (35-40 Baptist) in the area, I could very likely count KJB churches without needing my toes. I only know for certain of 5, including ours.

I can think of 6 right off the top of my head that I know hold to the King James, however, I would not recommend visiting all of them.
Bro. Norman,
I am surprised there are 10 in your city. I would have thought that the number would have been a little less than that.

PreacherE,
Sad isn't it.....I think we live in the same county. In Eden, North Carolina I can only say the following still use the King James Bible...
Northside Baptist Church
Solid Rock Baptist Church
Pleasant View Baptist Church
Victory By grace Baptist Church
Victory Baptist Church
Christ United Baptist Church
Eden Baptist Church
Calvary Baptist Church
Grace Baptist Church
Gospel Baptist Church
As far as I know they are still holding true to the word of God!
About 30+ in our city use modern versions

The ones here in Reidsville that I know of are:
Piedmont Baptist Church (my church)
Reidsville Baptist Church
Faith Baptist Church
Calvary Baptist Church
Bible Baptist Church
Rock of Ages Baptist Church
I know there are others in Madison & Stoneville, but they are not in my city.

Since many are near the Triad area, I was wondering if any of you are affiliated or even familiar with Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem, NC. Anyone know anything about PBC?

I know of pastors that went to PBC years ago (70's & 80's) and I know it was a good school back then. However, I do not know anyone who has been there more recent and do not know where they stand on issues now.

I am a recent grad from PBC. As far as I know, they have not changed any of their views. It is my understanding that if they were ever to change from their doctrinal stance, then the school would lose its accredidation and shut down.

Bro. Norman,
What about Bethel Baptist there in Eden? A preacher from our church was candidating for its pastorship a couple of months back. I had assumed that it was KJV-only, though I may be mistaken.

PreacherE,
You may be right about Bethel Baptist Church I do not know anything about them.
New King Memorial Baptist is another one...Pastor Grady is King James.
Now we may be up to 13.
P.S. Now traditional music (Using Hymns) is another matter.......
I hope we did not just make this about Rockingham County NC.

Ack!! I think you may have to cut your number in half, and that may be closer to the truth.
I have been listening to WTBI, a radio station here owned by Tabernacle Baptist Church (see Harold Sightler), and the preaching is wonderful, but the MUSIC
SHAME is all I can say. I wonder if Dr. Sightler endorsed that kind of music, or if he is rolling in his grave!

Pardon my ignorance, but what does "a brider" refer to? I know what ruckmanism is, but I have heard the term brider used once before in another thread and cannot put my finger on it. Is it similar to Landmark Theology & the Baptist Bride?
