Hid in Christ

Hi all. I am new to this forum.

A bit about myself.

I was lead in the sinners prayer at the age of twelve. I spent the consecutive 3 years with nothing but an NIV new testament, no church influence, and no real spiritual growth. AT 15, my parents split up. But God is good, my mother was already saved, and it was this change which brought about a great change in my fathers life. Until this point, he was an alcoholic, and a bar brawler. After this point, my family joined a fellowship Baptist church. There were no standards in this church for dress, music or church discipline, although I would not come to understand this until later. The basic expectation of the youth was to not be caught in the bar. I started a trade in the oilfield here in Alberta, and began to bounce around different churches. I new there was something missing in the one I my family was in, but did not know what I was looking for. I spent some time in nondenominational churches, (which translated to not having any position o any subject), and met that wonderful woman who is my wife in a Pentecostal church. It was not until after we were married that we were led to the first independent, fundamental Baptist church. I didn't even know they existed. Within weeks after our marriage, a missionary from Florida started a church right across the street from our apartment building. All of the above would be to me useless except for what I am going to tell you next. After I spent some under some good bible teaching, I became very convicted of my life. It took me another couple of years to swallow my pride, and openly admit I had come to doubt my salvation. There is no prayer, or teaching which can substitute hearing and believing (not just lip service, but a total dedication in which God, and his word become the focus point of your life around which all of your decisions are made, and you rest in Him completely) the full gospel of Jesus Christ! I have since committed my life to God.

Another blessing to me is that we were the first people in the Church, and had the full focus of the pastors teaching for a full year. After which, we moved to another town a 3 hour drive away. We called up our pastor for some more bible studies. Instead he began to make the drive once a week to teach us! We have now had three full years of one on one discipleship with our pastor, and I am astounded at how we have grown. I know posses the full assurance of salvation, and that peace of God which passes all understanding.

Hebrews 1:3
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Amen
