Hello from Mississippi

Hi everyone, my name is Scott, and I am 22 years old. I feel that the Lord has called me to go into the mission field. I feel that He is calling me to the Russian-speaking world, although, I don't know exactly where yet. Any and all advice from missionaries is gladly received. Very Happy

Welcome Scott.

So the Lord has definitely called you into the ministr you say? I pray you are sure about that. We will keep you in our prayers. Our church has many, many missionaries. None to Russia, but I have a friend who speaks fluent Russian (he attended a university there), and my step-mother is from Ekaterinburg(although she is still Eastern Orthodox).

I pray that God alone will be glorified by your ministry, and desire to go for Him.

Love in Christ,

Jim

Thanks, Jim.

I don't know exactly where the Lord will lead me to go. It may be Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, or any part of the Russian speaking world, but I definitely believe He is leading me in that direction.

BTW, You mentioned that your step-mother is Eastern Orthodox. Do you know where I can find some information about the Orthodox church and their teachings? Since I know that the Orthodox church is the main religion in that psrt of the world, I'd like to know what I'll be dealing with when I get there, but I haven't had much success finding anything about them.

Here is a basic description from wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox

My stepmother said they pray to God's "brothers" and such. She does not attend church I think, but my dad is trying to teach her a little bit. It's a little like the blind leading the blind since he does not attend church either, but professes to be saved.

Of course no disrespect to my dad, but he does need to come back to the Lord, not only in spirit, but in truth as well.

Love in Christ,

Jim

God-centered,

the only advice I would dare give you in all love would be to recognize the youth of your christianity.

I found that in my quietness, in allowing the elders teach me, I learned much more, and the Lord was more plaesed with my actions.

It is not always good to constantly have "advice to give", and things to help people.

Good intentions are nice, but they are only intentions, not always received in the intent they were given.

The best conversations I have always had are ones that are good, sound doctrine being used for the glorification of Jesus Christ. But we must be very careful not to make those sound like we are trying to get the glory in the attempt to give Him glory.

Just a thought.

Love in Christ,

Jim

Hello Jim,
Those were not just intentions, because I DON'T put down my personal opinions, I cite the KJBible.
My messages were on this: Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Not to worry, I wasn't speaking about you, was I?

Please, tell what you think the church is--a building with people or the body of Christ?
That's a question that pertains to doctrine, I suppose.

God-centered, please start another topic on that subject to keep continuity on the forums.
