Dr. Dino - Kent Hovind & taxes

Since the majority of members here are KJVO and Dr. Hovind is as well, I was hoping that someone might know or have an update on Dr. Hovind. He is a great scientist and I appreciate his ministry of Scientific Creationism. I even use his video series for my teenagers though with a disclaimer of his view on the Bible.

As a side issue, with his tax fraud, was he right in doing what he did? I know he hated paying taxes to the government who just turns around and puts that $ to schools that teach something diametrically opposed to the Bible. But according to Rom. 13:1-7, it seems he was wrong. Where is the line drawn where we say, "no more!"???

Jesus didn't say to render unto Caesar, what is Caesar's only if you agree with how Caesar uses the money ....

Yes but Judaism was allowed to continue. Temple worship was not comprmised by Rome directly. There is a point where we have to repeat Peter's words, "we must obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29). My question is when or where is that point? Have we gotten there yet in America? How close are we?

Good point. I don't think we're there yet in America. I believe the point would be when religious freedom is suspended in the US. Though I share Dr. Hovind's distaste that atheist indoctrination is being passed off as education in our schools, there are many necessary governmental functions that our my taxes support beyond schools. Doing our civic duty and voting regarding school board members and state leaders can go a long way to influence our local schools.

I looked it up and it appears he did get 10 years, but I found no mention of exactly what his wife received.

I knew about the 10 years for him and the year for her, I wasn't sure if there was any new news. Does anybody know if he might get an early release or how he is doing in jail?

General Titus was not during the time of Christ which was the context of what I was writing.

I figured you would have a comeback. Like you so often point out to me, you need to clarify exactly what you mean with precise wording. You said:

Quote:

Nowhere in this thread did you state at all that you were talking about "during the time of Christ". And to be a little more clear, you should also add "the time while Christ was walking the the earth.

For that matter, during the "time of Christ", even Jesus Christ himself allowed Judaism to continue. Not only allowed, but encouraged and condoned temple worship as was right. In FACT, He attended Yom Kippur sacrifice with His parents in obedience to law.

Love in Christ,

Jim

RE: Dr. Dino - Kent Hovind & taxes

Jim, if you look at post #2, you will see Nate quoted Christ. Then I came back with the quote you pointed out in post #3. So if you read the context, I wouldn't have to clarify myself everytime. I figured it was quite clear that I was responding to Nate about Christ. But you are right with my phrase "time of Christ." It would be more clear to refer to the time of Christ's earthly ministry in His incarnation or something like that. Thank you for the correction.

Of course Christ adhered to the Law; He was born under the Law (Gal. 4:4), He lived under the Law (as you pointed out), and He ended the Law at His death (Rom. 10:4 & Eph. 2:14-15). Thus He followed temple worship b/c that was still the economy in which God was working. Christ had to fulfill the Law (Matt. 5:17) to be the propitiation for our sins.

I tell you what, writing in a forum like this is difficult. There is usually at least some point of contention that is made between two people b/c this form of communication is difficult to express clearly what we mean. If what I said in post #3 followed Nate in post #2 in a real life conversation, there probably would not have been a misunderstanding. Ah the fun of the internet forum.

Brother Hovind is in my prayers. No matter if he was wrong or right, we need to pray for him and pray that God will put him out on the battle field again.

You got that right. As many rabbits that have been chased here, it is impossible to tell in what context one is talking.

Guys,

Take a look at this video, that was preached back in Sep 2003:

http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Find-Free...?At=033015

Pastor Parsley doesn't appear to be a KJB preacher, and is not a Baptist, but the message is certainly spot-on. It's about 50 minutes, and is thoroughly educational.
