Convulsion
Everyone,
Please pray for my 16-month old daughter, Joy. She woke up coughing and crying yesterday morning, would not eat or drink, and her temperature began to climb. We prayed and began watching her, and about 9am she went into a convulsion - eyes rolled back in her head and she began uncontrollable shaking. We prayed again, and a neighbor came to help us. We gave her some parastimol (like Tylenol) for the fever and some liquid Amoxicillin (antibiotic) for what is perceived to be a chest infection or even pneumonia. The medical community here is still very 3rd-world, and many times, they over-medicate and misdiagnose things. We have no Western-style medical insurance. Presently, she is being injected with Ampicillin every 6 hours and a fever reducer. Please pray that she recovers, and The Lord's hand is merciful. Our medical guidebook (Where There is No Doctor) says that convulsions (fits) can be caused by a number of things: dehydration, malnutrition, high fever, epilepsy, or meningitis. She eats normally, but doesn't drink very many liquids. She had a cold, which may have induced the fever. Since we are scheduled for furlough in June, we're hoping to have some real blood work done in the States. Thanks for your prayers.
Lord Bless

We will pray that God will show His Grace in a special way in this trial.

RE: Convulsion
Oh my word Brother! Of course both she and your family shall have my prayers. It can be so tough when one of our children becomes ill like that.
My one nephew used to go into those things each time he got a fever. They used to have to take him to the hospital to give him ice baths until his fever went down. The doctors could do nothing for him. Yet the Lord provided that as he got older they just stopped.
I feel for you Brother, I really do.

RE: Convulsion
Joy is in my prayers, brother, as are those providing medical care, that the Lord will give them wisdom. I have 2 young children and it is very difficult when they are sick.

RE: Convulsion
I want to thank everyone for your prayers! Joy is back to a "normal state" after several days of prayer, Ampicillin injections and fever reducer. The doctor still thinks she had pneumonia, but I disagree. I could be wrong, but I am not that familiar with it. It will be good for us to get some proper blood work done in a few weeks in the States. I just wish I knew what really took place, so that we can be prepared for any future occurrences, or prevent a relapse. It's all in The Lord's hand, so thanks again for all your prayers.

RE: Convulsion
Brother, I am sorry I just now came into the back of this. I thank the Lord she is doing well now. I will pray that when you come in that the Lord will give the doctors wisdom to find out the cause so she won't relapse.
I am still looking by the way.......
Love in Christ,
Jim

RE: Convulsion
Praise God Brother! Now I believe we should pray that her health be such that she can travel when time comes for you to return to the States.
