Church-Sanctuary Patriotism???

I would like to see how others feel about Church-Sanctuary Patriotism???
I have this discussion every year at 'patriotic' times with choir directors, church members, family members etc. I am first of all very patriotic as I'm sure most Christians are. I have been under arms & uniform for 30 years of my life, but when asked to do any activities promoting this in Church I've been very reluctant to take part. I attend worship services for praise & worshiping our Lord, Creator, and Savior first & foremost. I find that a lot of hoopla and banner waving is over the top where Godly worship is concerned. I seem to be in the minority in my Church circles though. I think our best forum for our patriotic faith is in the secular realm (parades, assemblies, etc.) as a form of witness to the lost in (their court so to speak). Feel free to use this letter or reframe it as you see fit to open a thread or discussion.
Thanx in advance.......ChuckieTrout

Responding; Brother Chuck,

I can't agree with you more. I was in the Marines for a time and am also reluctant to take part actually in anything other than that what is directly glorifying to God as dictated by His Word. Like you, we are in church to worship our Lord and Saviour, not promote any one countries ideologies (Render unto Caesar, etc.)..........
I am however, extremely patriotic as we live in the greatest country in the world and we have a great privilege we often take too much for granted.

It's a good topic to discuss. Let me know if you have any questions.

Love in Christ,
Jim

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
