Californian Wildfires - a judgement?
We have heard on the news about the fires in California. However, what is not so well known is that just before these broke out the governor signed a pro-gay law which makes it illegal to use terms like Mum and Dad in a state school in case it offends sodomites. Could these fires be a just judgement from the Lord?

I live in the area of the fires Brother Bob. In fact we had a major one very close to me which is now 100% contained. Praise God for that!
I have had the same thought you have concerning this inferno. We know from the Bible that God controls the weather in all aspects. Throughout the Old Testament particularly we see how He uses the wind. We also know that God uses fire as a means of cleansing.
When you consider the fact that in the fire area there have been wind gusts of over 100 miles per hour (161kmph) and the hugeness of the fires there can really be no doubt God is using this to try to convince people He is watching and perhaps even passing judgment on the life style of so many people in California.
California is so liberal in so many areas it is rather sickening. However the fastest growing denomination in our State is the fundamental Baptists. We have been extremely successful at planting some Churches in areas that had no decent Church for many years. In my own church we are seeing new faces in the pews each and every Sunday. We are seeing people saved each week and the membership of the Church is growing rapidly. In fact not too long ago our average attendance on Sunday morning was about 250. This past Sunday we had 342!
People in this State are hungry for God but they need people to reach out to them. I believe there are a lot of people who have died and gone to hell because they had no one to share the Gospel with them.
I believe you are correct in your pondering. Just as I believe without a doubt that Hurricane Katrina was a wake-up call for the people of New Orleans. All we have to do is heed those calls.
In Christ,
George
(Galatians 5:1) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

I was watching Hannity & Combs on Fox News last night (10/24) concerning the fires, and they were interviewing Joel Osteen. I had heard something about him, but had never heard him talk. Talk about saying a lot and still saying nothing at all! He and his wife (visions of Jim and Tammy) spent the whole time saying the same mush repeatedly. Something about "you've got to pull yourselves together, and then look to God to help you where you can't". Combs opened the door twice for some truth, but it didn't come. He asked "...if you have to be a believer to receive help from God?" Mr. Osteen's answer was at best confusing. Combs then asked if this was God's judgment. Ms. Osteen replied that she didn't think that God was responsible for the fires, because He only did good things. By the way, the name of Jesus never was spoken by either of these "leading evangelicals".
At least when Franklin Graham is on this show he repeatedly issues the Gospel challenge to the hosts (particularly Combs) and the audience to receive Jesus Christ as Saviour. I don't necessarily agree with all of his doctrine or activities, but the Name of our LORD is always lifted up when Graham is interviewed.
In case someone reading this might not be sure: YES, God sends the fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, hail storms, love bugs, and any other pestilences. He uses these things for His Glory and nothing else!
In the Service of the KING,
Brother Tim Keyes (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When I fully rely upon God, I find that He is fully reliable.

At the beginning of last year I sent a letter to our local paper about the new law allowing sodomite marriages. I suggested that perhaps the calamaties we have had in England over the last 40 years could be a judgement for the laws allowing sodomy and abortion. The strongest opposition to my letter came from a local vicar who was clearly not saved. I wrote to him and told him so; he was recently exposed as an adulterer and sacked from the ministry.
I do believe that God is not mocked and if a nation consistently flies in His face with sinful laws then He will take action as a wake up call.

RE:
I believe Gordon Brown is a curse on our nation because of our sin.
But seriously, it does seem God is allowing/is causing some terrible events to occur and I think we can relate it to our sin.
I would be keen to indicate that God does not deal with nations as He did in the OT and will do in the future I believe.
However, I do think God will graciously use judgments to get people's attention and turn them to repentance.
Sorry I've been away so long guys.
