Hi everyone.
I want to speak about KJVMail.com and the connection with "Everyone.net"
It would seem the association with "Everyone.net" causes undue spamming from all sorts; even on Mail servers which are solely for Church Web Sites.
I had cause recently to move our e-mail for our Church Web Site from the KJVMAIL.com site we had due to the constant spamming we received from all sorts of very unsuitable sites including un christian and downright filth.
I want to ask other posters if they have had the same experience?
I obtained the KJVMAIL.COM addy from one of our Sister Churches Web Sites here in Australia.
Look forward to some comments please,
Lord Bless

I have never had any spam on my KJV mail account.

Hi Davo, I am glad to hear that. I don't know why our Church site was "blessed" with heaps of it including ads for filthy sites.
Maybe I should speak to the support at KJVMail.com. However we are no longer using that service for our Church e-mails anymore.
Lord Bless,

I get tons of it. It slowed down for awhile but is not back in full swing. I never checked it over the weekend s and had over 245 spam. This problem in the past made me switch to gmail I like it. God bless. Smile
I will ask Ray, who runs KJVmail, to see what is going on.

Love in Christ,

Jim
Hi Bro,
Does Ray run any other services such as Hit Counters etc? If so I may have known him for some years.
Can someone help me with posting approved Sigs??

Every now and then KJVmail comes under a spammer attack. Its usually a barrage of literally millions of messages. Out of millions of messages some are bound to get through. I wish I could stop them, but can't.

Even today I woke up to 58,000 + emails backed up in the queue, all spam. Thats actually pretty light. Its not uncommon to see 500,000 backed up. When that happens the server usually comes to a crawl or just crashes. Like it did today.

I had high hopes when I started KJVmail some years ago, but the spammers have the money and resources to really make it tough. As I have mentioned elsewhere on here I only really keep it open for those people who have been using it for a longtime. I no longer accept any new users. I wish it could be different.

I don't blame anyone one for using gmail or yahoo mail, they have the resources to deal with the spam. Eventually KJVmail and Baptistmail may have to be sold to someone who has more time and resources to devote to them.

Sorry guys.

Ray

Brother, I completely understand. We can at least keep this post going so people can understand what it takes to run an email system. I support multiple complex Microsoft Exchange server environments for many clients and anti-spam software is a must-have for all of them.

The U.S. has implemented some really good federal anti-spam laws, and has in fact indicted and prosecuted the worst one here in the states a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately our laws are no good agaisnt spammers in other countries which have no such laws, and that is exactly where all of this spam originates.

We just have to do the best we can with what we have.

Love in Christ,

Jim

I have spam assassin installed on the server but there is so much spam coming in the minute I turn it on it starts to back up in the queue, it can't delete it fast enough. Its a completely frustrating situation.

Thanks for your understanding brother.

Nepean Baptist ChurchHi Bro Ray, SO are you the same person that runs the Christian Counter and all?
I have a couple of accounts with you if you are the one?
Bro Jimmy Crow that runs the "Home With God" Server and associated streams for Web Sites was using Everyone Net for his e-mails. Man they werte allowing so much Spam!
As I posted elsewhere I find that the Aussie yahoo server has been really good for stopping Spam.
I did have I think it was "Spam Fighter" on my e-mail iuntil I got my new Virus checking stuff from "CA" that guards right across Browsers and E-mail . I did have Spam Fighter protecting me on a scouple of e-mails I had on my one server for no extra charge except an extra dollar from my server per month for the second e-mail.
But no need for that now and I got rid of the seond e-mail (started to split Church e-mail from my own private e-mail)as it was causing problems for my Pastor gettiong notices more efficiently from other preachers especially for the 2 Missionary Families for whom we are the sending church. (Crockets in Romania and Longs in Cambodia)
Lord Bless,
You have to understand however, that depending on the mail delivery system anti-spam software will filter at different levels. It is much better for there to be systems that can handle spam at the SMTP level before it hits a mail server at the client sides. ISP's do not have that responsibility, yet many are doing so for posterity reasons because they know how frustrating it is for non-commercial users who receive email from their mail servers.

People whos ISP's have the capability of shelling out the millions of dollars for filtering solutions at those levels before it hits the consumers are fortunate.

Raymond would not have the resources to spend to attack spam at that point of delivery. His anti-spam solution (correct me if I am wrong Ray) has to reside at the servers location and level, thereby taxing the resources of the server because the mail server itself handles the load of getting rid of the spam. We(where I work) have implemented solutions for our clients that allow a dedicated server to filter all SMTP traffic before it hits the mailserver so that it can handle and route email without having its resources annihilated because of spam.

Client filtering solutions would do the same thing in a sense. If you were getting 500,000 emails sent to your outlook client every day, you would not be able to receive your legitimate email in a timely manner.

Love in Christ,

Jim
Hi Jim I do appreciate what you are saying in my limited understanding of HTML and so on as a Web Site Administraor myself and I thank you for your comments.
Again, Yahoo's Australian server has been a great help as we are using my Aussie Yahoo e-mail for the Church site now.

I don't seem to be receiving mail on KJV again. I tried sending a couple of items several days ago, but neither arrived.
Hi bro,
Hopefully Bro Ray who has been posting in here of late will pick up on your post,

Davo, it should be working now.
