'Have sex, do drugs,' speaker tells students
Boulder High School in Colorado recently had a guest speaker come and speak to its student body. The speaker was Joel Becker, an associate clinical professor of psychology at the University of California at Los Angeles. His speech focused on telling the students, Freshmen through Seniors, to go ahead and have sex and do drugs. Becker stated, "I am going to encourage you to have sex and encourage you to use drugs appropriately." He stated that he was taking that position because they were going to do those things anyway. He wanted to educate them on a position that they might actually stick to. The school board actually had no intention of reviewing the matter until a student and her mother filed a complaint. While reading excerpts from Becker's speech the school board made Mrs. White stop reading because the language was inappropriate. Becker went on to ridicule those who hold to the Biblical view of abstinence saying they had 'religious hang-ups.'
This attitude is not limited merely to Becker or the ultra-liberal UCLA. Instead it is something that the government and modern-day quacks have fed teenagers and their parents. It all started with the expulsion of God from the schools. Before 1963 the Bible was still a daily part of every student's life. From this the teachers were able to point the students toward a moral absolute. Once the Bible was removed from schools the students no longer had black and white, right and wrong. Instead what was right became whatever could be got away with and wrong was only those things you actually got caught for.
It also did not help matters that students started being taught they came from animals instead of being made in the image of God. The teaching of evolution does nothing more than to degrade the masses into thinking that they are nothing more than animals. This is why teen sex and drug abuse are out of control. Teachers and even parents no longer expect their kids to have any morals because they are being taught through evolution that morality is relative. Instead of being taught right from wrong they are taught that if it feels good then do it. They are told that they come from animals and therefore they act like animals.
If Joel Becker, the government school system, and parents would teach their children that there are rights and wrongs, blacks and whites, in morality then we would begin to see a change not only in the way today's teenagers act but a change in society overall. As long as we continue to make God and the Bible taboo subjects inside our school system then we are going to continue to see a slide in the morality of our young people. Until we begin to teach young people that there are absolute morals then we are going to continue to see teenagers having sex outside of marriage, teens abusing their bodies through drugs and alcohol, children being born to children because of their promiscuity, and all of the other various problems with today's young people.
Let us get back to teaching our young people the morals that God put in place and gave to us in His Word. If we do that then our teenagers will once again start to have a sense of morality. Who knows, many of them may even accept Christ as their Saviour.
